* * *
Patients with cystic fibrosis not only have to learn to live with pain and manage it due to their disease, its complications and the necessary tratments, but they also have to frequently undergo painful invasive procedures like taking a blood sample or positioning of peripheral vein catheters. Specially in children procedural pain is an adjunctive stress factor; if not treated adequately or prevented it can lead to anxiety and fear correlated to the visiting of the CF Centre and therefore negatively influence the psychological state of the child and his or her future compliance to the treatment. My goal is to find out the best strategies for fearless and painless procedures in CF children using both medications and non pharmacological techniques, and to spread the awareness of the necessity of an adequate control of pain and fear among my Country's nurses.
