Lisa Semple Lisa Semple is a CF nurse specialist at the Alberta's Children Hospital, Canada. For the Best Care Award Lisa spent a week at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, London, exploring the similarities and differences of the specialist nurse role in the UK and Canada. The five sub roles of the clinical nurse specialist are: advanced clinician, educator, consultant, researcher and administrator. These roles provided a framework for assessment. Lisa reviewed each of the roles as it relates to specialist care in CF, specifically focusing on the roles of advanced clinician and researcher. "Both the exchange and the attendance at the European CF meeting were valuable and extraordinary experiences which challenged me to reflect on practice and consider new ways to look at problems. I have maintained contacts in Italy, Holland and the UK and all these experiences will have a lasting impact on the care I provide as well as my professional goals for the future."
